Discover the surprising reason why golfers struggle to replicate their practice swing in this video featuring Todd Kolb from VLS Golf. 1. Makes so much sense, given how nice my practice swings can be and then actual swing may not resemble the practice swing. I think they call that tempo. I will try to incorporate that thought (if I can remember lol). Golfer in New Jersey.

  2. The reason us quite simple, your practice swings you're not ball oriented. Carry that over to actual swing and cured. Like the old saying the ball just gets in the way

  3. Very interesting. When you practice at a range or in a hitting bay with launch monitor, you can always correct a mistake in your swing, will hit good shots as well as bad ones, so you generally know what you want to do. But when you get out on the course, everything changes. You get distracted by so many things and thoughts that did not exist in the practice sessions. You only get one chance to hit each shot and then have to move on and hit the next shot with a different club to a different target while avoiding different obstacles. You can get tired without knowing it. You may feel rushed, perhaps marshals are out on the course pushing groups to keep up. I have seen myself make exactly the mistake you show where the lead arm is lower in the backswing than you think it is. In practice I have used the phrase "Bite the Bicep" to get the left arm up. But out on the course, distracted by looking at where I do and don't want to hit and similar things, I may find I have swung my left arm back too low, and also not given myself time for the hip to turn and chest to make a full turn back. Your advice to select one of these mental reminders and to repeat it before every swing, in effect using it to push out of your mind any of these distractions, sounds really important and useful. Thank you.
