By this logic the average pga tour pro would be hitting it 240 yards off the tee, which is 20 yards less than even in the 80s on avg (roughly), with courses that are about 500 yards longer. Math ain't mathing here
You require coordination to play golf and the taller a man is in general the less coordinated they tend to be. Tiger said this for the last 20 years and tournaments have been multi million dollar events since then. Still nobody has come out the woodwork. Very surprised Gary has this view, seems slightly delusional 😂 Nicklaus hit it probs 10-20 yards past Ben Hogan…… so 🤷♂️ it’s score, not style points
Player just doesn’t like that modern players are actually athletes as well.
Good points, need to do something to make the pros hit shorter the game more interesting if not just driving the green from tee.
Interesting. Sounds a bit of a radical proposal but it would seem fair to impose some limits on ball distance in pro golf like they did with golf clubs (CoR, or trampolin effect). Nick Faldo's guess for the winning score at this yr Masters is 9 under. It's a tough course even for the pros.
Gary Player said years ago that technology is destroying golf and now I understand what he meant.
Golf is a hard sport but it’s a sport that requires ridiculous skill to master and that’s why it is a great sport to play but like he said the technology in equipment now is in part taking away the skill in areas
Yep totally agree 👍
Narrow the fairways, grow the rough and put “fluffy” sand in traps (more fried egg lies). Leave the ball alone.
Drive from the parking lot. I agree
It’s called “evolution” in players, just like in every other sport.
Eventually the pros will be hitting 400 yds. Just a matter of time
