Tiger Woods was recently involved in a scary car accident where he flipped his vehicle over, and was arrested for a DUI. With the Masters underway, legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus weighed in on the situation and shared his take about Woods.
The six-time Masters champion claimed he just wants to see Woods get healthy and return, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN. Nicklaus believes the sport of golf needs Tiger Woods to return, and he showed nothing but support.
“Just whatever you need to help you and get back, because I think golf needs him, and we’d love to have him back.”
Legendary golfer Gary Player also shared a statement about Woods. Player doesn’t blame the 15-time Majors champion for taking medicines to help with pain and sleeping. However, he does admit it’s dangerous for individuals to drive vehicles after taking those types of medicines. Overall, Player just wants Woods to get healthy and return to golf as well.
“My heart goes out for him,” said Player. “There’s nothing worse than living in pain every day of your life. You can’t think of anything worse. I just hope he can get it all sorted out because he’s such an asset to golf and has done so much for the game.”
Tiger Woods, who is 50 years old, announced shortly after his DUI arrest that he is stepping away from golf for the time being. It’s unclear how long Woods will remain away from golf, but he is not going to be playing competitively or be involved with any of his administrative duties with the PGA Tour until he feels ready to return.
