Any time you want to come out to Spring Hill TN, and teach a lifelong 84 year old golfer how to break 80 from the up tees of an Arnold Palmer designed course, I'm your man.
This kid is so annoying, but I say that in a very endearing way! Very likeable
I used to play like this with fairly forgiving used Titleists, then a couple years ago got some Mizuno blades from 2005 that are extremely difficult to hit. Got down to a 12 hcp with them, then got fitted for new Pings. It was my first fitting ever. Now I'm a 7 hcp. Sometimes you need a reset that forces you to really learn a reliable swing. Unfortunately, irons that are too forgiving can reinforce bad habits like my original used clubs. As those irons aged, I would get worse and worse. It took me a while to realize it was the irons. I had to rid of them and start from scratch again. In doing so I do recognize that the Mizunos may have been a bit extreme — I literally almost quit golf haha. But now with my fitted irons I hit the sweet spot every time (that was the only way to reliably hit those Mizunos anywhere close to target) out of habit and now golf is my favorite activity by a long shot. My shot radius for irons is very small now, for all of them. Now the next step is to master short/wedge game with my gap and sand wedges especially.
Giving him new clubs with no practice during the round may have been the opposite of helping him break 90 😬
Awesome video. Keep playin Fin, golf is always fun even for those of us that shoot 90+
please continue to show more videos of him improving – would be sweet to watch him continue to improve
Man what a great video, the realness and just goodwill to help a fellow golfer. Keep it going!
That sugar coffee bomb drink ain’t gonna help!
Teaching Finn could be a good instructional series idea.
Let’s go Finn!!!
Since he is learning, wouldn’t it be better for him to putt out?
You are the MAN for this one!!!! I saw the videos where you gave away the Takomo irons. I play the irons and love them. I replaced my Titleist 762s from back in the day. This is an awesome act of kindness!!!! Keep it up! Hate you guys left Ga. I do not play in the north suburbs but hoped to at least fist bump you and wish you the best!!!!!! 🙏🏿💪🏿👊🏿
Had someone handed me a set of clubs at his age.. I might of cried. I didn’t have my first true set of new fitted clubs until I was in my late 30s
Awesome job Matt.
