This week marks the LPGA’s seventh event as the tour is now in Las Vegas for the Aramco Championship at Shadow Creek, in an event that is co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour. The LPGA has visited heralded Shadow Creek for several years but this is the first time for this particular championship and a new sponsor.
Each of the top 20 players in the world are in attendance playing for the $4 million purse with the winner taking home $600,000. Nos. 1 and 2, Jeeno Thitikul and Nelly Korda top the field that features all five tournament winners this year on the LPGA. The winner the last two weeks, No. 4 Hyo Joo Kim is riding high with confidence, topping Korda in both the Founders Cup and the Ford Championship.
Three Ladies European Tour winners are competing and not only are each of the top 20 in the world playing, so are 24 of the top 25. Jessica Korda and Anna Nordqvist are playing as sponsor exemptions.
