The taxpayer-funded cost of President Donald Trump’s golf jaunts has soared to $101.2 million since his return to the White House in 2025, HuffPost reports.
The money covers travel and security costs for the president, including at golf properties that the president himself owns.
Trump has spent 110 days golfing at his own properties, more than a quarter of his presidency.
Spending for Trump’s golf trips is on track to hit an eye-watering $300 million by the end of his second White House term.
HuffPost reported that some of the priciest trips include jaunts to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, which tally out at $3.4 million each.
Another $9.7 million in taxpayer money was spent for a Trump trip to Scotland for the opening of a new course at the Trump International Golf Links resort.
Trump’s golf trips incur high costs such as the use of the Air Force One presidential jet, which costs $273,063 per hour; use of C-17 aircraft to carry motorcade vehicles, and Coast Guard and law enforcement security patrols.
The visits to Mar-a-Lago are “particularly expensive,” HuffPost said, because they require protective patrols of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
The $100 million milestone comes amid criticism of Trump over rising gas prices sparked by the president’s war with Iran.
Critics have also slammed the president over taxpayer-funded leisure trips to properties that Trump owns.
The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has said that the trips divert funds that could go to Americans struggling with the national affordability crisis.
The cost estimates used Government Accountability Office methodology from 2019, HuffPost said. The actual totals, the news site reported, are “likely higher than the unadjusted figures.”
