Hyo Joo Kim crossed the $12 million mark in career earnings after winning back-to-back weeks on the LPGA. The stoic South Korean successfully defended her title at the Ford Championship by once again holding off world No. 2 Nelly Korda.
Kim became the first player in tour history to card multiple 61s in the same tournament (Rounds 1 and 3) en route to setting a new 54-hole LPGA scoring record at 191.
While she didn’t set a new 72-hole scoring record, she finished at 28 under, tying the third-lowest 72-hole record in relation to par. The record is 31 under, set by Sei Young Kim at the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic.
“I actually wanted to ask Nelly how it feels to win back to back,” said Kim, whose favorite player is Korda.
Kim now has nine career LPGA titles and won $337,500 at the Ford. Last week at Fortinet Founders, she won $450,000.
