A day after President Donald Trump told Fox News hosts that Tiger Woods would not be playing in the Masters this year, Trump was on a tarmac Friday, wishing his friend well.
Woods was involved in a rollover crash on Friday in Jupiter Island, Florida, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. His longtime agent, Mark Steinberg, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Woods’ condition. The incident comes five years after Woods suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash in California.
Authorities said Woods was not under the influence of alcohol — his breathalyzer registered 0.0 — but deputies determined he was impaired. He is facing charges that include DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test after declining a urine test.
Trump told reporters that he and Woods are very close, and wished the 15-time major champ well.
“He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know,” Trump said of Woods’ incident. “Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person. Amazing man. But some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Woods, 50, is dating Vanessa Trump, 48, the ex-wife of Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
Woods had just nine swings in his TGL appearance on Tuesday as he made a surprise appearance for his Jupiter Links GC squad in the championship match. This marked his first competitive appearance since tearing his Achilles in March 2025.
Woods underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his L4/5 Lumbar spine for lower back symptoms back in October. The surgery was performed by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi and his team at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
