I just got back from a solo trip to San Diego to play a little golf. I absolutely loved it. I played Encinitas Ranch, Torrey Pines South, and Coronado.

Encinitas was a cool spot. Some elevation changes, a few ocean views, and an open course.

Torrey was special! I’m around a 22 cap so not quite good enough for South but I couldn’t get a tee time for North. They had the rough grown out and the tee boxes back due to the Bryan’s and Grant Horvat filming a “making the cut” the same day and it ate my lunch. Still a great experience though.

I enjoyed Coronado immensely. The back nine was stunning with lots of views of the harbor. It’s an easier course but some sneaky bunkers and trees can cause trouble. shot my personal best 43 on the front with 2 birdies. Fell apart on the back though. It was a 5 hour round and I think waiting on every shot got to me a little bit.

Overall SD is a great golf desination. It’s not super expensive outside of Torrey and there is a ton to do outside of golf as well.

bonus pic of the dumbass in front of us who drove in the bunker. fun waiting on them all day

  1. Love all those courses. We spend a couple weeks there every year, and I look forward to Coronado every year. Course is fun and the views are incredible.

Played Torrey pines South in pouring rain a few years ago. Kind of a bummer but I can’t wait to get back to the area and play more.

Coronado legit might be my favorite place to play.

Glad you enjoyed it!  If you ever go back for variety I recommend Maderas as your expensive course, Balboa Park, and Steele Canyon. Could swap out Steele with Carlsbad Crossings if you wanted to be more coastal.

Lived here my whole life and have never played either of those courses. While I live in San Diego county I don’t live in the city of San Diego so I don’t get the resident rate and there’s just some stubborn part of me that refuses to pay out of town rates in my home town. Fuck, why are humans such complicated creatures.

  7. so spoiled to call this place home, glad you enjoyed yourself

Was just there myself, played all 3 9’s at Steele Canyon and Mnt Woodson. Steele was awesome and very challenging.

Love number 3 at Torrey South. That’s a bucket list course I got to play when my sister lived in San Diego. They had the rough grown out for a college tournament and it was crazy, it was almost sticky.

Another fun, super unique course in the area is Mount Woodson.

  10. Played Maderas recently and it was unreal. Hard as fuck though.

Bruh! So jealous of this sweet golf trip that you did.

Also who the fuck drives a cart into a bunker!? 😭

    Beautiful pics!

I hope that Torrey South will forever remain the hardest course I’ve ever played. The rough was brutal and I’ve never felt more helpless on the greens. I’ve still technically not finished a few of the holes, so probably need to go back!

But it was a blast to see and try shots from where Tiger hit his many legendary shots.
