California Governor Gavin Newsom hit out at Donald Trump after the President enjoyed a round of golf amid the war in Iran.

Tensions in the Middle East have skyrocketed over the last week, beginning with a joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran. Despite running on an anti-war ticket with his own country suffering from an affordability crisis, Trump has committed to regime change in Iran at Israel’s bidding.

Due to Iran’s ongoing attacks on U.S. bases, Trump issued a warning on Saturday that more American lives could be lost as further military action occurs in the Middle East. Nevertheless, the 79-year-old was seen out playing a round of golf on Sunday — and Newsom was furious. It comes after a chilling map revealed the 4 safest US states to survive during a nuclear attack.

“He’s golfing after bombing children and raising your gas prices,” Newsom wrote on X while resharing images of Trump. The president was seen playing a round at his Trump National Doral in Miami.

Given the ongoing political context and engagement in Iran, Trump has received some criticism for his decision to stick to his golf routine. He was out playing a round on a day when the United States announced that a seventh servicemember had been killed in the Middle East, in an Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia.

Newsom posted again, writing: “A 7th American soldier is now dead. But don’t worry, Donald Trump is golfing.”

Other users were also displeased. One wrote: “Geez, I wonder how much this costs American taxpayers. While the world is on fire, this madman has so much time on his hand that he can go golfing. Where are the Trump supporters now? Where is the outrage?

“I promise these Trump supporters will see their daddy doing this while the world’s on fire and say, well, it’s not as bad as Joe Biden or some other Democrat.”

Another posted: “That is how much he cares about both American service personnel and civilians. Some of us are rising our lives and some of us are struggling to feed our families because of him and his policies. So he goes and plays golf.”

It has not been a good 24 hours for Trump. He was criticized online for not removing his MAGA cap during the dignified transfers of the previous six U.S. soldiers who were killed by retaliatory strikes from Iran.

Removing a hat or cap is regarded as a customary act of respect, reverence, and mourning. On top of this, one of the most solemn responsibilities of any commander-in-chief is the dignified transfer.

“Trump looks absurd wearing that white baseball cap during the transfer of the fallen U.S. soldiers,” a user commented on a video of Trump donning the cap that was posted online. Another person added: “Trump showed no respect. Baseball cap on and no bowed head.” It comes after a lip reader decoded Barron and Ivanka Trump’s mysterious conversation just days before their dad attacked Iran.
