I’ve seen so many people complain that they showed up to a course and didn’t know the greens were punched, or temporary tee boxes were in use, etc.

A local course in Wisconsin is letting people who choose to play this weekend (it’s 70° tomorrow!) that the conditions will likely be XYZ, but they will lower the cost as a result, and also allow you to cancel your tee time if you’d rather not play. That’s how it’s done…

Wow, a course that actually cares! How cool!

  2. efrisbee

Wait until you show up and find out they also aerated the greens

The course I’m playing tomorrow called to state it will be cart path only if you opt for a cart, but also sent this email and the call asked if we wanted to reserve caddies to walk.

    “OPENING WEEKEND – CADDIES

Welcome to opening weekend at Cantigny Golf. We hope you have a great weekend and season at Cantigny Golf.\

**For the 2026 season we will once again be providing you with complementary caddies. No upfront caddie fee. All we ask is that you tip your caddie.”**

Gets there. Greens are punched. GOD DAMNIT.

But really, way to go on these guys. I bet you they’d even call out in a frost delay.

  5. SunnyMonkey17

Hell yeah. I’ll be one of the first groups off tomorrow. See you there, OP.

They let you ride in those conditions? Thats going to screw the course for ages.

The UK would insist you carry.

I played a course last year that charged full rate even though every green was torn up by cicada killer wasps. Then told us in the clubhouse after round that they were fine.(they were nowhere near fine, straight up dirt mounds and holes on every single green) The next weekend we played at another course that discounted everyone for “muddy looking greens” that had been burnt by their groundskeeper after a tournament. They told us in the clubhouse that they rolled fine their appearance just wasn’t the best . Guess which one has gotten far more of mine and friends business over the past year 😂

Class acts. So tired of paying full rate on a Saturday to be greeted by punched and sanded greens on the first hole.

  9. Damn kudos to their communication and pricing

I recently received this one from my club :

    In English :

The sunny days are approaching, and we are delighted to welcome more and more of you to Preisch. This is therefore a good time to provide an update on the current condition of our courses and the work to come.
Weather conditions are improving, but the heavy rainfall we have experienced is still preventing us from carrying out optimal maintenance of the courses. Some areas remain too wet for our greenkeepers to use maintenance machinery (especially around the approaches to greens and in the rough). As a result, mowing of the various parts of the courses has not yet been carried out, and we apologize for this.
Mowing of the greens, fairways, and roughs is expected to begin in the first week of March in order to offer you a course that meets expected standards.
The use of manual and electric trolleys is permitted, but golf carts are not yet allowed on the course.
Finally, we would like to inform you that aeration work on the greens is scheduled for the second week of March:

Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10: France course closed
Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12: Luxembourg course closed

This schedule may be subject to change depending on the progress of the work and weather conditions.
Golf remains a sport of patience, and the course is still playable! Feel free to book your tee time.
All the Preisch teams are fully mobilized to offer you the best possible service and playing conditions.

I play at a course and sometimes it rains like really bad. Some of the holes have a dip in them, and the rainwater makes it impossible to play. So you can still play them but have to avoid those areas. Regardless they discount the round for however many holes are like that. Really only happens one or twice a year.

This def isn’t The Oaks close to me with those prices

Love this! That’s great communication, and frankly, I wish more courses would do this. I have been thinking about how I could potentially work with courses on [Stimp](http://StimpReports.com), a course condition project I’ve been working on, and this post gave me an idea. Thanks!

nice touch with the price adjustments
