A new indoor simulator that has been described as a ‘golfer’s paradise’ has opened in Stourbridge.
The Shack Stourbridge, which is based in the estate off Mill Race Lane, officially opened in March and aims to create an immersive and realistic indoor golfing experience by using top-of-the-range equipment.
This includes Trackman simulator hardware and grass that, according to owner Steven Clarke, is the ‘most realistic’ to the golf-course.
“I’ve gone to town on this one. I’ve got all of the best equipment in the game,” Steven said.
“I tested a load of different types of grass for the floor and picked the one which is most realistic to a real-life golf course.
“I’ve got 4K projectors so that the simulator quality is the best. I’ve gone with Trackman hardware which is the best in the game. I really did my research.
“I wanted to create a golfer’s paradise.”
Steven was inspired to open The Shack after recently taking up golf as a hobby and finding that the nearest indoor golf simulators were around ’45 minutes to an hour’ away from Stourbridge.
Steven also believes that Stourbridge’s proximity to pre-existing outdoor golf courses makes it the perfect place for a new indoor simulator.
He said: “Over the last few years, I have gotten into golf and I was travelling to one of these indoor golf simulators and it was nearly an hour away. The only options from Stourbridge are simulators in Redditch, Bromsgrove, and Birmingham.
“In Stourbridge, we are also in the middle of a load of golf courses. I just thought we could do with a golf simulator in Stourbridge and I’m going to jump on it before anyone else does.”
Alongside its golf simulators, The Shack includes a snooker table and an ‘Omni Scoring’ darts board.
Steven is also in the process of acquiring an alcohol license for his new venue.
