  1. I have the same worry about JMI monopolizing what NIL players can sign and it loses us good recruits. But at the same time, does the university in this partnership have enough pushback that if that happens a couple of times early (say next year) can UK athletics kick back and make them open it back up? Or are they completely stuck to the whims of JMI no matter what?

  2. Mitch barnhardt is a fuckin dumbass. Genius move hiring pope but stupid move basically cutting him off at the knees with this monstrocity. Im no longer gonna be watching games. Ill boycott this shit any way i can

  3. Not a good deal. Not a good deal at all. I'd be interested to see all the details. What was it costing, 2 mil annually in salaries for club blue? So 30 mil over 15 years to collect and push everything in house, or give up 20% (roughly 92million) of your brand to let someone else take care of something you already had set up. Doesn't seem like a smart business deal. Who else is JMI representing, and how are they doing brand wise compared to Big Blue Nation? Seems like they cover Georgia and UCLA, one of those brands have kicked dust and Georgia really only has a powerhouse football team that seems to be falling after their 5 year run(which I do wish we had). Of their customers, I can see every big name football recruit being swayed to Georgia or Notre Dame because JMI has a financial incentive to make the most money from each negotiation, meaning Kentucky(even though we probably don't land them anyway) don't even have a chance to get involved with these big time recruitments. Inversely, we'd get our pick of the litter in basketball, but we got that anyways because we're Kentucky.

  4. Idk, I think money is the only thing that any athletic department should worry about..any recruit and their family are only going to be worried about the money, development ect. If the program has the money, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

  5. Why are the people negotiating these deals anonymous? Whether it’s Club Blue or JMI, all of it should be transparent or there’s no true accountability. You can’t criticize JMI for being unknown yet still unwilling to even say the person’s name out loud who used to do it. He doesn’t even do it anymore! Is he rumplestiltzken, Voldemort? Idk why it all has to be handled in such a shady manner.

  6. As a fan, I hate this. Before it was like the University Sports teams belonged to the fans, as a public university we helped to support through patronage and other means Boosters, clubs etc, but now it seems like some Mafia type takeover has happened and whatever happens good or bad we are stuck with. Another idiotic move by Mitch B.

  7. The big question is who else is in bed with JMI. Does JMI have UK's best interest in mind or if lets say Georgia wants a player UK wants and they cut a deal with JMI for that player do we not get the same effort from JMI to get that player as GA would. UK may have just sold themselves and their athletes down the river to a company who now has the power to determine what college gets what athlete. And snowball into having influence on championships.

  8. In this day and time, everything is about money and budget, so how could Kentucky pass up $465 million? They have to find ways to keep paying Mark Stoops 9 million a season.

  9. Does this mean we get a better football stadium
Because the last time we sold out to corporate overlords all we got was an even worse football stadium

  10. 12:10 this is how democrats still run their narrative machine…not saying it wouldn't be useful in this moment, but the reason we respect KSR is because they are great on their feet…🤷‍♂️

  11. Not surprised at Matt’s pessimism and negativity about jmi. He has been that way for years now and most of this is geared to his own selfishness. And that is why the relationship with them is not good. The caller who said the relationship with UK is broken is probably right. Not surprised.

  12. This was the best decision from a business aspect for UK. Really it was a no brainer!!! As far as players keeping their freedom who cares! No athete who is paid or is a professional is free!! Athletics is for lack of a better term modern day slavery. Athletes of the highest level are told where they can buy houses cars what travel agency the can use for vacation the whole deal. And ultimately all these examples are business s and ppl who are in the same loop as the team or organization that make the players contract. There for a players money is funneled right back to the ppl who theyve signed with. Essentially making nba mlb ncaa wnba nfl player contracts free for the organization over the contracts. Yeah the players make money but it all goes back to the employer plus some!!!

  13. Jmi is not the biggest problem Ky sports has. Its these idiots. Idgaf what anyone else thinks, ksr is a joke. They run with hypothetical, made up shit that has nothing to do with reality. Not smart
