Heron Glen Golf Course in Hunterdon County has been named the No. 1 public golf course in New Jersey, topping GolfPass’ Golfers’ Choice rankings, which evaluate publicly accessible courses based on reviews submitted by recreational golfers.
The county‑owned course in Ringoes led the annual list of the state’s top public layouts, earning the highest placement among 20 courses recognized statewide for course conditions, layout and overall player experience.

Eight other Central Jersey courses made the top 20: Neshanic Valley, Rutgers, Spooky Brook, Quail Brook, Old Bridge, Galloping Hill, Royce Brook, Tamarack West.
“Being named the number one public golf course in New Jersey is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the outstanding work of the entire Heron Glen team,” stated Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John Lanza. “Heron Glen is not only a tremendous recreational asset for our residents, but it is also an important destination that brings visitors to Hunterdon County and supports our local tourism economy.”
