In this video I test the compression of a huge lineup of two-piece golf balls to see how they actually compare. Two-piece golf balls are some of the most popular options in golf thanks to their durability, distance, and value—but how soft or firm are they really?
Using a compression tester, we measure a wide range of two-piece models from different brands to see where they fall on the compression scale. If you’ve ever wondered which two-piece golf balls are actually soft, which ones are surprisingly firm, and how they stack up against each other, this test breaks it all down.
Whether you’re looking for maximum distance, a softer feel, or just the best value golf ball, understanding compression can help you find the right fit for your swing.

Thanks for the video Nick. Would love to see you do the Cut Red (and Cut Grey when you do the 3 piece compression test).
The numbers are different on many tests . Great to compare balls to each other within your testing. But I agree feel and compression are totally different some times. Fun video
I do wish you had a white version of the Diawings to test, because it doesn’t feel close to 97 like your pink one is showing. I’m wondering if the color difference is playing a factor like the other balls in this test.
Love it!
Do the 3 piece next please, thanks.
When you showed the back of the tester, it looks like there's a calibration screw near the bottom you can turn to adjust how it reads. You might need to measure some known compression balls and adjust the screw to get the compression tester to agree. I think the tester is reading a little high.
Im suprised about the D1 Honma. I got 3 boxes of these cause your vids. I smash them the farthest i have ever hit. They def cut down on my slice. I only carry about 210 in the air..but these ar consistent.
It's interesting how many balls you thought were soft but had high compression. I'm wondering if a "Soft Feel" ball means a soft outer coating while still having a hard inner core vs a "Soft Ball" where all layers are soft for low compression.
I'd be keen to know if the balls that gave you large differences each compression test were poorly made with off centered cores or inconsistent thickness of the outter shell.
Did i miss it or didn't you test the Amazon core soft ball ?
did you put it in your compression gauge ? if so what was the reading.
This was great. Keep doing it. Even consider upgrading the meter at some point, but yeah rapid fire compression numbers is awesome!! ❤❤❤
Nick, THIS is the video I’ve been waiting for forever! I predict big numbers for this vid! People have been craving this info for years! Can’t wait for part 2.
Dod you do yhe Seeed 15 country miles and I just missed it?
Thanks for the information, what this tells me is I prefer a firmer ball, 90+ and they seem to be the ones that performed the best for me. Snell Prime 2.0 is a favorite, it works really well for an Old Fat Man Golfing. This is eye opening, I also understand why the Taylormade Speedsoft sucks, too soft, no distance.
love your responses to the machine !
Great video Nick, very interesting results!! Maybe compression isn't the end all-be all for picking a ball. Love to see more, 3-piece..etc
I really enjoyed this video! So is there a consistent pattern where colored balls tend to be firmer than the white of the same ball?
That was interesting keep doing it
Great video as always. Thank you for putting this together
