Where should your ball position be for your standard iron shot and where do you go wrong?

If you prescribe to having a stance width where the load bearing joints are stacked on top of one another (shoulders over hips, hips over knees, knees over ankles) than for most golfers the ball position will be very close to 4″ inside the target side heel.

However, many golfers employ a foot flare since it often helps in the ease of turning the hips, which is perfectly fine. BUT… as we relate to where objects are in relationship to our feet, when looking down, we relate these objects to our instep. When the feet our flared it can skew the perspective of the ball position, ultimately leading to it being too far forward.

To remedy this potential issue, base the ball position off your heels, regardless of the type of shot you want to play, and your ball striking and game will see the improvement you desire.
