  1. Shaft lean at impact creates real compression. When your hands are slightly ahead of the ball, your angle of attack becomes a bit steeper, which helps you strike the ball first and the turf after. That is the key to cleaner contact, more control, and more distance.

    If your hands are not roughly in line with your lead hip at impact, your trail hand is probably trying to help the ball too much. That usually leads to inconsistent strikes.
