A golf resort is looking to ramp up alcohol sales at its halfway houses and add a mobile drinks cart for refreshments on its courses.
Cabot Highlands is located eight miles from Inverness city centre, and has two 18-hole golf courses, a clubhouse, driving range and several holiday lodges.
The five star resort is seeking permission from Highland Council for a major variation of its alcohol licence which would allow thirsty golfers and caddies a chance to fuel up while playing a round.
The council’s licensing board will make a decision on the application at a meeting next week (Tuesday February 24).
The application states the two halfway houses on both the Castle Stuart and Old Petty courses have previously operated under an occasional alcohol licence, but now the resort is seeking the ability to serve players and caddies full time.
A mobile beverage cart has been included in the application, to act as a replacement for the halfway houses when staffing issues occur.
Welcome hampers and mini bars could also await guests in the holiday lodgings should their inclusion in the licence extension be granted as part of the application.
The licensing standard officer’s (LSO) comments state that both halfway houses would stick to strict hours and be staffed at all times while open and the drinks cart would not be used at the same time as halfway houses.
The application, they added, would pose no threat to the licensing objectives set by Scottish law and there were no objections to the license extension.
