I’ve got most all of the structure done, so now i need to figure out the safety portion of the build.

I’ve definitely got to do something on the frame, just not sure what would work well/be cost effective.

Also thinking about sliding nets on either side to catch stray balls, have done some looking on amazon, but haven’t found anything great.

I currently have a ratchet strap to hold the platform up which seems like a fine temporary option. The platform maybe weighs 80lbs, so it’s not a strength issue, just don’t want the strap to slip and hit the wife’s car.

Really appreciate any info/reccomendations.

I would protect anything solid, with sufficient padding. I asked AI for a cushion that could withstand a 100mph golf ball hitting a metal post, and it spit me out 3″, 3lb density memory foam as an option. I cut up a mattress topper with those specs, and made a bottom wedge and covered the poles around the screen. Balls hit it and stop dead now. When I was using the stock enclosure padding with added pipe insulation, I had burners come screaming back at me after compressing the padding and hitting metal.

edit: so, curious about the solid platform. What made you chose that over some thick gym tile/puzzle tile with turf to build up a hitting surface? That or an appropriate size quality hitting mat, that you could roll up. You’re going to want some kind of hitting mat anyway, doesn’t that platform take up space to the ceiling?
