Sudbrook Moor’s Steve Ullyatt, new to the senior weekly competitions, had a very successful journey through four rounds of the Matchplay Consolation Plate.
Steve met and lost to Andy Wain in round one of the main event, slipping into the Matchplay Consolation Plate to meet the other early casualties.
After a splendid two up win in the second round against Colin Henfrey, Steve went forward to the quarter-final where he encountered Nigel Corby, last year’s plate winner.

A tough 17 hole match ensued with Ullyatt moving on to the semi-final with John Came which also went to the 17th hole.
A tough final with Pete Martin needed two extra holes to establish the eventual champion before Steve became the Ron Boxell Plate winner.
