Lihue, Kaua’i, Hawaii – Grand Canyon men’s golf completed day two of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate Friday afternoon, carding a 6 over card to move to 17 overall and 14th place out of 19 schools.

DAY TWO RESULTS

Loyola Marymount, who led the field after 18 holes yesterday, is joined by No. 32 Texas A&M at the top with an 8 under score. No. 38 UNLV is third at 5 under par.

The Lopes improved by five strokes from Monday’s first round with multiple Lopes moving up the player leaderboard. Junior Gavin O’Neill and sophomore Nixon Lauritzen climbed 13 spots to a tie for 45th at 4 over par, both carding 1 over second rounds. The duo each had three birdies on the day.

Freshman Daniel Nilsson moved up 10 spots with a 1 over second day, moving his total score to 6 over. Nilsson began his day with a birdie on the par 4, 7th hole, and finished 1 under over his final 10 holes played.

Sophomore Måns Boje shot 3 over and is nine over overall, while sophomore Matthew Diehl shot 6 over to go to 6 over for the tournament.

Sophomore Trey Moore had the biggest jump up the standings, shooting even par to move up 21 places as an individualist. Moore had a team best four birdies on the day and is 9 over.

As a squad, GCU’s 119 pars are second most among the 19 teams competing in Hawaii. GCU is also tied for eighth with a 4.70 par five scoring average.

Third and final round action begins tomorrow at the Ocean Course Hokuala on the island of Kaua’i.
