LIHUE, Hawaii – Santa Clara held firm to their eighth-place spot in the 19-team field of the John Burns Intercollegiate after turning in a 3-over 283 in Friday’s second round. The Broncos are 5-over 565 after 36 holes of play the par-70 Ocean Course and are led individually by Kevin Hollomon, who shot even par for the second consecutive round to put himself in a tie for 17th at even par-140.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:


Three Broncos shot even par in Friday’s round. Hollomon shot par with three birdies countering a trio of bogeys and is just two strokes outside of the top 10 of the individual standings.
J.P. Odland also shot par to climb 21 spots in the standings into a tie for 37th.
Emil Nielsen was the third Bronco to shoot par on Friday to bounce back from his opening round 78 and launch 25 spots up the standings into a tie for 76th.
Calder Overfelt was 4-over 74 in the round while Matt Robles was 3-over 73 to drop into ties for 30th and 45th, respectively. 
Santa Clara is five strokes behind Saint Mary’s and Long Beach State for sixth place, and still maintain a lead over top-25 teams No. 23 Utah (566 ) and San Diego State (567).
LMU and No. 32 Texas A&M are tied atop the leader board at 8-under 552. The Lions’ Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh leads the field at 6-under 134 thanks to a tournament-best 5-under 65 in Tuesday’s round.
