Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry finished on nine and eight under par respectively after the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Akshay Bhatia and Ryo Hisatsune have the lead on 15 under, with Bhatia shooting a 64, as the duo moved one shot clear of the chasing pack.
McIlroy, starting on the first hole today, went out well with birdies at the fourth and seventh holes, after managing an eagle on the par 5 second hole following a brilliant approach shot from 195 yards.
The back nine was more of a mixed back, with birdies on 11 and 12 sandwiched between dropped shots on 10 and 14.
But the co Down man finished on a high with a birdie at the last to sign for a 67.
After his 67 yesterday, Lowry had to settle for 69 today. Starting at the 10th, he to to the turn three under for his round, but back-to-back bogeys on 10 and 11 halted his momentum.
He recovered with birdies at four and eight – his 13th and 17th holes of the round – to stay in the hunt for a good weekend.
