It’s not every year you can swap snow boots for golf shoes on Valentine’s Day in Sioux Falls, but 2026 clearly didn’t get the memo about winter. Thanks to a rare stretch of downright friendly February weather, lovebirds, and golf birds alike can sneak in a little three-some with their favorite irons and wedges at Kuehn Park.

Mother Nature has basically gifted Sioux Empire golf lovers with the ultimate romantic gesture: sunshine, mild temps, and a legitimate excuse to tell your sweetheart, “Honey, I booked us something special… it involves tees, balls, and long walks together.” Forget roses and chocolates, nothing says true love like being able to break out your 3 Wood together in February without the threat of frostbite.

If you’re still putting a round looking for last-minute Valentine’s gift ideas, consider this Cupid-approved tip: Kuehn Park Golf Course is offering tee times from noon to 4:00 PM starting Valentine’s Day through Tuesday, February 17. Yes, actual February golf in South Dakota. Somewhere, a snowblower is weeping softly, I just know it.

This has to be one of the earliest unofficial starts to golf season Sioux Falls has seen in years. The course will be open to the public through at least Tuesday, February 17; however, you’ll need to hoof it, Kuehn’s golf carts are still hibernating. Look at it as bonus cardio. A chance to work off some of that winter weight, right?

As for the other city-run courses, Elmwood is still closed for practice and play, while Prairie Green’s driving range will be open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM through Tuesday. The putting greens there remain off-limits for now, so if you’re itching to test your short game, Kuehn Park is your best bet.

Bottom line: this weekend might be the only time you’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day by rekindling your relationship with your golf clubs instead of your snow shovel. For more details on this rare winter golf bonus round, check out Kuehn Park Golf Course on Facebook, and maybe send Mother Nature a Valentine’s Day card while you’re at it.
