New dad here. Love golf, love my son, but getting out for a round has been tough since he was born.

Tried walking the course with the stroller but carrying clubs while pushing wasn’t happening. So I designed and 3D printed this attachment that holds a full 14 clubs and mounts to any stroller handlebar with velcro straps.

Walked 9 yesterday morning with my buddy (also a new dad) and our boys. Had the course to ourselves, got some fresh air, and didn’t have to choose between golf and family time.

Build cost about $20 in materials. Best $20 I’ve spent in a while.

Anyone else find creative ways to keep playing after kids?

Is this a thing? We had to ban parents from taking their babies on a round with them at our golf course. We have tight fairways, blind shots and some fairways cross

Unfortunately my local munis don’t allow it due to insurance risks

Damn, rough crowd here. No wonder each generation gets more sheltered. People here are pretending that walking 9 with a stroller is like storming the beaches of Normandy. Happy to see familiesmaintain their active hobbies and social groups and that the kids gets to see things that aren’t on an ipad.

Why is there this much hate on this post?

Yeah, here’s one- ask my wife if I can go get a round in. She can go do other stuff too on other mornings/evenings. Win-win, and my kid doesn’t have to sit in a stroller for however many hours.

Its crazy that people are calling you irresponsible for bringing your kid onto a golf course. Yet doing every day things like driving a car with them in the back carries inherently more risk statistically.

  7. RedBirdLou

I personally wouldn’t do this, but to the people upset about it… do you think babies shouldn’t go to baseball games?

This is the type of post that causes my wife to be shocked when I quickly decline her request that I take my two year old with me when the few times a year I get to play. I don’t see how anything good can come from having an infant or toddler on a golf course.

Still better behaved than most of the people at the WM.

Nah f that. I’ve been hit whilst on the course before, I’d be too worried my kid copped one flush to the head. Could be life threatening for an infant. But that’s just the pessimism coming out of me

There’s already something like that called the Kid Caddie. $95 on Amazon, also available on their website. Have used personally, definitely love it.

This comment section is insufferable. Looks like a fun day!

I feel like driving on the road is more dangerous than a mostly protected baby getting hit with a ball going almost vertically down

I know people say babies sleep a lot or are quiet and all the other stuff, but as long as you step aside and are ready to leave or postpone your round as you tend to the kid I say leave em at home. Short of special days most courses don’t allow any kids under 7 actually on the course around me. Some don’t even allow any kids under 4 on the premises.

I did this a few times with my kid, it’s great! People do not realize that you can completely cover them up while in the stroller, not riskier than a normal walk (and there are no cars to hit you, so I think safer!)

Man you’d think the people commenting are getting peppered with balls every time they play. I haven’t brought my kid with me just cause I’m lazy and I also don’t have enough partners (don’t really want to make a random deal with me taking a baby). But if I were able I’d have no qualms about it from a safety aspect. It’s really the noise and fussiness of a newborn that I wouldn’t want to deal with on a course.

The comments here are crazy particularly when the post states they had the course to themselves. Mid week sneaky 9 on paternity leave is very different to rocking up on a packed Saturday morning where would be more chance of errant golf balls as well as pissing off the other golfers.

Good work lads on getting the bubs outta the house, giving your missus a break and managing to do something you love while you’re at it.

  18. Read an incredibly sad story about a guy who took his daughter out in the cart with him and ripped a drive right at her and it killed her. That scared me straight from ever even thinking about bringing my kid out with me.

I believe a very similar product won “new product of the year” or something like that at the PGA super show. Called KidCaddie or DaddyCaddie idk.

I’m glad these comments have the same concerns as I do. Would never take a baby golfing with me.

Nah one bad slice and some kid is getting a skull fracture

  22. juvy5000

terrible idea. and my absolute nightmare, a crying baby on the course, worse than bro speakers at full volume. keep toddlers off the course, not safe

In this thread: “Selfish ass people say, it wouldn’t happen to my kid!!!”

Hmm…I don’t think I would have even jokingly suggested this to my wife. I don’t think that would have been received well. I get some of the other comments here that driving to the course with the baby is statistically more dangerous. It’s the same as sky diving. Driving there is more dangerous than the actual activity. However, the odds of a catastrophe go from extremely low to 0.00% by not doing it.

I’m a father of a newborn myself, and before the baby was born I had all these grand plans- I even bought a club holder for the stroller.

Now that I see how delicate babies are, I have zero intention of bringing one onto a golf course unless there is literally no one on it.
