edge set is a better deal. Ping set is older and should be cheaper IMO good clubs still

  2. they’re both solid, I’d probably go for the edge set if it’s in good condition, considering the edge set today is what, like 550 or 600, and doesn’t include a bag or those additional wedges. If that set is really a year old and includes all that extra stuff for $325, that’s kind of an unbeatable beginner setup

Both are good. I might lean towards the pings. Ping irons last forever. Both are good deals tho.

Which ever feels good to you! The Callaway set would be my choice. It’s been a while since I’ve hit Ping.

  5. Just a heads up edge set starts at 6. Don’t believe they even have a 4 or 5 iron

  6. Phraoz007

Both of them and then buy a new set in a week.

    Welcome to golf.

  7. Edge set my friend has them they’re fine clubs

  8. GolfGodsAreReal

Get the Ping’s, better quality and still solid

  9. Intheswing

I like the Ping set personally.
But the Callaway seems like a good deal especially do to its relativity newer age.

Ive been using the Calloway edge for two years still love the clubs. Only thing I changed was the driver to something less draw bias.

If you’re the kind of person that will get the upgrade it soon get the cheaper set because it’s still decent. I will give you some room to play with individual upgrades as you see fit. You’re the kind of person that’s gonna keep this for a long time. Get the edge set.

    Ping set no question.

The G30s are SWEET woods and the hybrids are a must for beginners.

Also PING irons are notoriously bulletproof.

One of the best golfers at our club still has Eye 2s. He’s a fabulous ball striker

  13. Wave 200 at the pings and see if he bites. Although the edges have more shelf appeal being newer, those K15 pings are very good and kind of at the bottom of their value, meaning you won’t lose any money when you upgrade and sell them off. Just my 2c

Pings, they probably need a re-grip though.

Some notes on what you said above about the Edge set:

    – The Edge set only came/comes with one hybrid, a 5H
    – The irons go from 6i – SW, they don’t start at 4i

  16. BrooksGolf

Guessing all the clubs are standard length and regular flex? Both a really good sets but the Callaway edge set is a great deal so just based on that and being new to golf id go with those

  17. Par-Fore-20

The cheaper option, lesson package and a range membership.

  18. brdesignguy

You could probably get between a 12-10 handicap with the edge set. The newer tech is worth it too

  19. Omisco420

I would buy the first one but maybe try to haggle if possible.

  20. Evening-Orange3277

id prob get the edge set myself and drop that 60 degree and pick up a 56

  21. For learning golf? whichever is cheaper, neither are a crazy deal and you would likely slowly replace either. No reason to spend an extra 75.00 right now.

  22. Academic_Dig_1567

Both good but callaway tends to be more approachable for a new player especially in offset to prevent slicing.

  23. CandyAppleRedSSS

I started with the callaway edge set. Definitely recommend.

  24. SpoceInvoder

Honestly that edge set is a very good deal and an amazing starter set.

Consisdering that Edge set costs $550 new and doesn’t come with a the bag, 60 wedge, 52 wedge, 4 iron, or balls listed in this post. I think it’s definitely worth it. They sell for $400-450 in good condition on the pre owned site.

  25. DirtyKarma

Pings will be better clubs. Both fine for beginners but the shafts will matter as well. Are they both regular flex sets?

  26. standingboot9

Pings, easily. Last forever. Quality brand. Anser putter to boot.

  27. Delicious-Ad2882

My starter set was the older Costco callaway. Great starter set in my opinion
