For years, Tour Edge’s Hot Launch lineup has done exactly what the name implies: It helps you get the ball up in the air and generate speed.

With the latest iteration, Hot Launch Max, the full lineup of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons and wedges has been modernized to boost forgiveness and launch. In other words, Hot Launch has been made more Hot Launch.

“Game-improvement golfers deserve uncompromising performance and quality as part of their path to improvement, and Hot Launch Max delivers,” Tour Edge founder and CEO David Glod said in a release. “The long game is where golfers lose the most confidence when the ball isn’t staying in play. Hot Launch Max metalwoods are designed to bring stability and predictability back to those shots, so golfers can swing freely and trust the result.

“These irons and wedges are designed to make solid contact easier to improve consistency, and to give golfers more confidence from their approach and scoring clubs.”

What’s actually new with Tour Edge Hot Launch Max — and why you should careTwo lines for two players

The Hot Launch Max series is actually split into two different lines, Hot Launch Max and Hot Launch Max D.

Hot Launch Max is going to be a traditional super-game-improvement line with stronger lofts to boost distance with more traditional designs like cavity back irons and blade wedges.

Hot Launch Max D is a complete line of draw-biased products, including an offset hosel driver, with heel-weighting to promote squaring the club at impact to fight a slice. The Max D line also features weaker lofts, hollow-bodied “ironwoods” and wide-soled wedges for maximum launch and forgiveness.

Each metalwood in the Hot Launch Max lineup has a strategically placed back weight for optimal MOI to make them easier to launch. In the Max D models, additional weight is added to the heel to give the clubs a draw bias.

MOI is also increased through a new V-taper sole, which tapers toward the back edge and shifts weight back to the perimeter.

Tour Edge is also putting its Diamond Face VFT technology from the Exotics lineup on the Hot Launch metals, which optimizes face deflection to produce consistent ball speeds across the face.

Irons and wedges built for consistency

The Hot Launch Max are a more traditional game-improvement iron with a cavity back design centered around Tour Edge’s VIBRCOR TPU insert to dampen vibrations and enhance feel while maintaining ball speeds.

Meanwhile, the Hot Launch Max D ironwoods employ a hollow-bodied design for maximum MOI and a super-wide and forgiving sole. They will also launch higher with more mass deep in the head.

“Approach play and short-game confidence is where golfers see the fastest improvement,” Glod said. “Consistency is what allows golfers to score, and Hot Launch Max irons and wedges are built to deliver predictable results when precision matters most.”

What are they: Hot Launch Max is a more traditional game-improvement lineup with a slight draw bias due to deep CGs.

Who are they for: Players looking to improve their ball striking and consistency.

What are they: Hot Launch Max D is a complete line of draw bias clubs for players who struggle with a slice and need more loft for better launch conditions. The irons are hollow-bodied “ironwoods” for maximum launch and forgiveness. The metalwoods feature offset hosels to give players more time to square the face.

Who are they for: Players who struggle with a right miss.

My take: Two lines that serve a purpose

What I love about Hot Launch is that it knows exactly what it is. It’s not for an elite ball striker, but for the golfer who wants to have more fun on the course.

“Not every golfer wants to manipulate ball flight or chase ultra-low spin,” Glod said in the release. “Hot Launch Max is for players who want simple, repeatable launch and performance that makes the game more enjoyable from the tee through the fairway.”

To that end, Hot Launch Max takes what made the past lines so sucessful and enhances it. These are the clubs for players who are just getting into the game and want to enjoy golf the same way a better player does.
