MONTGOMERY, Texas — Senior Patrick Blaum finished the opening day in 16th place to lead the Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team on the opening day of the Bentwater Intercollegiate Monday at the Bentwater Country Club.
SLU finished 29-over par over Monday’s 36 holes and sits in 12th place heading into the final round. Tournament host Sam Houston State (+4) carries a five-stroke lead into the final 18 holes, while Ohio’s Nathaniel Gray Lamont (-5) holds sole possession of the individual lead after the opening day.
Blaum shot an even-par 71 in the second round after opening the day with a 74 (+3) over seven holes. Freshman Gavin Ingram shot the Lions’ low round of the day, carding a one-under par 70 in the opening round and currently sit in a tie for 33rd (+6).
Freshmen Lorenzo Palmieri and David Marsh are tied for 60th place after shooting 10-under par Monday. Noah Bumgarner (+ 19, T79th) rounds out the SLU lineup, as he and Palmieri recorded eagles Monday.
