So, how do you find the perfect grip size for you?
But here’s the big question: How do you find the perfect grip size for you?
Is it as simple as choosing a grip that feels right in your hand… or is there more to it?
In our latest video, Tom puts five different grip sizes to the test:
– Undersize Grip
– Standard Size Grip
– Midsize Grip
– Jumbo Size Grip
– Jumbo Max XL (The Full Bryson!)
We break down everything—dispersion, ball speed, distance, launch, spin—to see which grip really performs best. We test it all!
Watch the full video now to discover what grip size actually does and which one could help you improve your game!

I swapped to the Jumbomax Ultralite xls this winter. Helped with elbow tendonitis, and improved my ball striking right away. I grew up playing baseball, not golf, so the bigger size and having it more in my palm feels much more natural for me
I use the Bryson grip on my driver and only. I fought a hook for years. Seen on a youtube video it was hard to hook the ball with that grip on the driver. I changed to that grip and don’t think I’ve hooked a ball in a couple of years now. It was actually incredible how quickly it fixed it. I tried a normal grip last week and immediately hooked the ball. Went back to my grip no hook. I don’t have this issue with any other club in my bag except my driver. I play MCC plus 4 mid size on everything else.
I’d be interested to see how you got on if you used the online fitting tool that JumboMax offers and see how that grip performed 🙏 great video to see a full range of grip options instead of just one or 2 extra sizes
As always great review, thank you
I think you should have tried Jumbomax medium. I think it dimensionally is in between the jumbo and jumbomax XL
I use a cadet medium and run Jumbomax Small (which is still massive). Honestly, I went from hit it right, hitting it left, maybe hitting it straight to hitting it straight every single time. Now my aim may be off, but the ball goes straight or a little fade or draw depending on if I open or close the clubface. Point is I now know when I'm doing that and can "feel" it. It's aweosme.
Did you just say Bryson DeJumbo 😂
72 senior here, I had a left miss using standard grips and tried a Jumbo, went wide right and ended up with a midsize and my left miss went away. Hand size measured 7.75". SS driver 88.
Been using the JumboMax XL for 4 seasons, "standard" grips are now just an absolute joke and the club feels broken when i pick one up. Yes takes a bit of getting used to but just can not see why you wouldn't use one (right size version obvs Im an XXL glove was fitted for the JM XL) . The reason we have a "standard grip" is some shepherd wrapped a bit of leather round a stick in a field. No actual science at all , if I sold you a tennis bat or umbrella with a golf handle you would want another one. JM are so accurate can just release away without a big left coming in , I still hit a draw
Golf is slowly dragging itself out of the dark ages. I wear a small glove and a standard grip feels like it was designed for children. Even I had to go to a midsize to fit my hand. I can't imagine a six foot eight man using a standard grip. The standard grip should probably be be the standard for ladies. Standard for the average male golfer should probably be jumbo.
Hammering the jumbo!
Majority of amateurs slice the ball.Need options for slicers.
I'm guessing different shaft with midsize grip would be ideal
I’m not a small guy at 6’ 6” and my hand size is just over the top of the Ping grip size chart. Started off with the tour velvet jumbo which were an improvement but was curious to try the Jumbomax. Ordered a new wedge and they were an option, so bought it with the Jumbomax XL grip. My thinking was I could see how I felt about it, if I didn’t like it I only 1 grip to change rather than paying for a full set and finding I didn’t like them. As it turns out, I quite liked it, though it was a touch on the large size for my liking, so I’ve just had a full set of Jumbomax mediums fitted and I love them. Due to the grips being very light, the clubhead feels heavier which really seems to suit me and I feel like I’ve got more control over the face as well as being able to hold the club with less pressure compared to feeling like I had to death grip the clubs before because they felt so small in my hands. Always amazes me why standard grips are so small compared to the diameter of grips in other sports.
Did you equalise the swing weights when changing the grips?
I went from standard to oversize skipping the mid. still have a tendency to go left
What if you did a blank screen in front and not let the golfer know what the results were until the end. less chance of correcting
him moving his head so much, taking his eyes off the ball was irritating me way too much
As I have osteoarthritis in both hands, and I wear a large glove size, I switched from the standard grip size to Golfpride’s jumbo grips. I have noticed no problems with squaring the face, and they are far more comfortable for me to use. I do not have to squeeze my grip on the club and I feel less discomfort during and after a round. Without switching to these jumbo grips I would be forced to abandon playing golf.
Very cool to do these tests. I’ve done very similar testing and found that I am very swing weight sensitive. So, I found that the difference in the grip weights had more of an effect on my swing then the actual size…I figured this out by getting grips that were all very similarly weighted and did the test, and then did it again with pretty much the grips you just used, which are all pretty different in weight…
Can you do jmx grips in club fittings. So far I have only found one place that will
I wear a cadet XL glove and I find myself going back and forth between jumbo and midsized grips
why donyou always have the Hacker fella hitting the shots, that clowns hardly able to swing the club nevermind know the difference in grips
