PALMAS DEL MAR, Puerto Rico – TCU carded the best second round score of any team to move into a tie for first place Monday at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate in Puerto Rico.
The Horned Frogs shot 15-under 273 to move to 13-under and into a tie with No. 25 Wake Forest atop the leaderboard.
Jack Beauchamp moved to third place at 7-under par, two shots back of the leaders, Tom Haberer of Wake Forest and Shaun Cook of Kennesaw State. Beauchamp fired his second sub-70 round of 3-under 69 and will look for his fifth-straight top 20 finish on Tuesday.
Freshman Sam Udovich had the Frogs’ best round of the day. He shot 5-under 67 to move up 12 places into a tie for fourth. He is two shots behind Beauchamp at 5-under 139.
Udovich was one of five Frogs that improved from round one. Freshman Nathan Miller recovered from a first-round score of 75 to 4-under 68 and move up to a tie for 19th place at 1-under 143.
Toby Wilt was five strokes better at 2-under 70. He moved into a tie for 33rd place at 1-over 145. The biggest change from round-to-round was from Hudson Wilt, who shot 3-under 69, one day after a 77. The sophomore moved up 26 spots to a tie for 36th at 2-over 146.
Competing as an individual, Charlie Wylie shot 1-under 71. He is tied for 41st at 3-over 147.
TCU will begin the final round on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 6 a.m. CT.
