Launch Update from Handicaps Network Africa
9 February 2026
The HNA launch on February 5th unfortunately delayed due to mobile App approvals from Apple and Google, which are outside our and our or the developers’ control, as they depend on Apple and Google completing their vetting processes and publishing the apps to their stores.
Due to the considerably high volume of App users, we decided to wait for approval, and proceeded with a website-only launch, allowing golfers to register and submit scores via the web platform.
The Apple iOS App was released at approximately 2 pm on Friday afternoon.
The HNA and DotGolf teams worked throughout the entire weekend to support players and clubs and to identify and resolve the initial bugs, which were addressed by the development teams on Saturday night:
Course Handicap calculation issue: A new iOS version resolving this issue has been approved by Apple
Active members incorrectly marked as resigned: All affected inactive members were reinstated.
Member search by name (Web and App): Searches were previously limited to a player’s home club, requiring a member number when searching outside the club. This has now been fixed on both platforms.
Android App update:
On Monday the 9th, we were advised that the app had been rejected by Google earlier that morning due to an alleged image copyright issue. This appears to be unfounded, as the image in question has been used in previous app launches and is owned by DotGolf. Now that the app has been resubmitted, we expect the verification process to be completed more quickly.
Other issues fixed:
Duplicate golfer profiles created during the transition.
iOS App not appearing in foreign app stores, US and some European territories.
Current known issues:
Some foreign scores are not appearing on player profiles. This fix is scheduled to be deployed live on Monday night.
Reports of duplicate score entries due to players not seeing their score history. A validation check will be implemented overnight to prevent this.
While the broader search functionality has been updated, the display and wording will be improved in the next app version.
Minor display change required on the app login page.
Profile pictures not loading correctly in the app.
Additional notes:
As of 9:00 am on Monday the 9th, approximately 38,000 golfers had successfully activated their profiles.
Clubs and players are reminded to contact HNA at info@handicaps.co.za or on 0860 691 691 should they experience any issues.
