The PGA TOUR returns to the desert for the 39th edition of the WM Phoenix Open, as TPC Scottsdale once again takes center stage for one of the most electric weeks on the schedule. The Stadium Course and its iconic par-3 16th, known as the “Colosseum” will be primed to entertain as a 123-player field featuring 10 former major champions and 11 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking descends on Arizona. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines the action for his second start of the season, returning to the site of his first TOUR victory and fresh off a win at The American Express, while two-time WM Phoenix Open champion Brooks Koepka joins him for his second start of the year since his return to the PGA TOUR. With sunny skies and ideal scoring conditions expected all week, the “Greenest Show on Grass” sets the stage for a star studded showdown that also includes Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, Ben Griffin, J.J. Spaun and FedExCup co-leader Chris Gotterup, alongside fan favorites such as Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Max Homa. Like I said a few days ago – Gotterup is the new Scheffler for 2026. He will win a major this year, not The Masters but either the US Open, PGA Championship or The Open (since he finished 3rd there last year and also won the Scottish Open…..) mark my words

disgusting behavior. after jack was kicked out for “paying fans to yell” it continued to happen all day until the very end. convinced they payed people to mess with hideki so they could win their bets. I and my wife are Japanese Hideki's big fan, and we wached this game to getting earlier at 3 AM starting work day.
Despite not being at his best, Hideki showed some brilliant golf—holing two long par putts and making birdies with long putts and even a chip-in.
However, on the 18th hole, where he was leading by one stroke, he faced a par putt under maximum pressure. Just before he putted, someone in the crowd shouted, “Get in the hole!!,” forcing Hideki to step away and reset. He went on to miss the putt and made bogey.
Then, on the tee shot in the ensuing playoff, the same shout—“Get in the hole!!”—rang out again right as Hideki reached the top of his backswing. Anyone who plays golf knows how stressful it is to stop a swing at the top. After restarting, he clearly mis-hit the shot, and the ball ended up in the water.
Were they doing this on purpose? Were they just carried away by alcohol? I understand that PGA Tour events are often described as festival-like occasions where spectators can enjoy drinks, but behavior like this should never be acceptable. It left me feeling a bit depressed as I headed to work.

In my honest opinion as an amateur golfer, i would be 100% behind banning for life all inappropriate / timed correctly heckles.
It is absolutely ruining the game and a sign displayed upon entering or even on the tickets stating that this behaviour is completely unacceptable and a 5k fine imposed.
Especially in a playoff.
The other golfer should be allowed to request the effected golfer to retake his tee shot.
People who do this are actually not golf fans there just thicks.

May have been Hidekis tournament to lose but what’s overlooked is the 7 under 64 Giddyup and go spun out there
Fair play to Gotterup. Played with Scottie on Thursday and Friday which we all know can't be easy. Outplayed him by far on Thursday. Then comes around on the weekend and gets Hideki to a playoff. 1st hole launches that drive and drains a 20+ footer to ice him. Type of performance that builds a career!
Americans do seem to have a problem with the concept of sportsmanship….utterly disgraceful!
This is what happens when the integrity of the game is gone! Today’s players watch people on YouTube play in six-somes, yell like idiots after every decent shot, run down fairways and on greens and just generally act disrespectfully on course. Ban whoever did this from pro tournaments for 20 years and see if they grow up… would be better if he had to apologize to Hideki.
