I was just perusing eBay and noticed a lot of TaylorMade P790 sets for +/- $800, so I started looking at the listings and noticed a few things that do not match the authentic ones I purchased directly from TM.
1) Most of the listings have plastic wrapped grips – mine did not have grips wrapped when in plastic when they arrived. Mine have the stock grips, so maybe this is grip dependent.
2) Serial numbers are not aligned in the same way and may have a different font. They are shifted slightly lower and either 'FORGED' or the SN is shifted. The end of the serial number on my clubs aligns pretty close to the middle of the 'D' in 'FORGED, whereas the seemingly fake ones are closer to the 'E'.
Might be nothing, but if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful out there…

One more things- there does not appear to be a manufacturing sticker on the 7-iron on these fake sets.
Boxes are also wrong. TM ships these clubs in a black branded box.

No need to beware.
Just buy clubs from reputable retailers.
Anyone who doesn’t deserves to taste ass.
Best bet for ebay buys is combing thru reviews and previous sales.
Patterns are patterns and never buy from anyone with an account that is less than a year old or with fewer than 75-100 sales.
Enter even more are these P790s real posts.
Guess what – you could simply not be a dumbass and buy from a reputable business like Dick’s / Golf Galaxy, 2nd Swing, Global Golf, or Taylormade directly
TaylorMade does not every plastic wrap their grips, as well as they do not offer black DG 105 shafts anymore. If you see either of these things they are fake.
This is part of why I build my own clubs and use components from brands no one cares about (not clones). There’s negative money in making knock offs of my Dynacraft irons or my Integra and Acer woods.
Even if I wasn’t a peasant I would never want a set of clubs that cost more than a car payment.
Multiple eBay sellers have dropped them too with some good photos, but cheap price and inconsistencies give it away.
This post is generating a lot of comments about buying directly from TM or reputable businesses and I agree with that sentiment. However, there are a lot of people that are willing to risk it to save some money. Hopefully, some of those people will see this post and reconsider.
If you look through the ‘sold’ and ‘completed’ listings on eBay, you will see that hundreds of people have purchased fake sets in recent days.
The Temu Lab putters look good
Fake P790’s have been doing the rounds since they originally came out tbh. Because they were so popular when they came out and hit the market like a freight train there was money to be made in counterfeits. They were popping up on Aliexpress and DHGate within weeks of release.
