WAIMEA, Hawai’i – Washington men’s golf posted its second consecutive round of 273 (-15) to sit in seventh after two days of the Amer Ari Invitational at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club.
The 30-under (546) after two rounds is the lowest since the 2024 Ameri Ari Invitational when the Dawgs went 38-under (538) after 36 holes. The 15-under today was tied for the fourth-lowest score today.
“Solid day from the guys again today,” head coach Alan Murray said. “Our goal was to drop as few strokes as possible as we counted too many bogeys yesterday. Everyone is making plenty of birdies but the bogeys on this course really hurt you. We counted 11 dropped shots in round one and managed to improve to seven dropped shots today. We will try to improve upon that again tomorrow.”
Jacob Goode led the Dawgs for the second consecutive day with a 6-under (66). Goode had seven birdies to just one bogey on the afternoon to move up three spots into a tie for fifth. It is Goode’s first collegiate tournament shooting in the 60s in two rounds.
Jack Murphy fired his lowest round of the season at 4-under (68). The round was one shot off his collegiate low. Murphy sits in a tie for 27th at 7-under for the tournament.
Finn Koelle posted the third-lowest Husky round of the day at 3-under (69). Koelle had the biggest jump of the day, moving up 25 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 50th place at 4-under.
Grady Millar’s round was highlighted by an eagle on hole No. 7 on his way to a 33 on the front nine. Millar posted a 2-under (70) round to move to 5-under overall and sitting in a tie for 44th.
Freshman Emil Herstad rounded out the lineup with an even par (72) round to remain at 2-under for the tournament.
“The guys are playing nicely and we look forward to trying to climb the leaderboard again tomorrow,” Murray added. “Excellent golf from Jacob shooting 66. Jack played a really good round of 68. Finn played nicely and shot 69 and then Grady was scrappy and did a great job shooting 70. Emil had an up and down day and shot even par.”
Playing as an individual, Brock Maulding shot a 2-over (74) and is 1-over overall.
“We will need all five guys tomorrow,” Murray concluded.
The Huskies will be paired with Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Oregon State in the shotgun start final round beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT. Washington will start on holes 4 through 7. Live scoring can be found on Clippd.
