SAN JACINTO, Calif. – Junior Nicole Tanoue is the only player in the 58-player field under par after carding a 1-under 71 in round two of the Soboba Spring Classic on Thursday at the Country Club at Soboba Springs. At 1-under 143, Tanoue carries a three-shot lead into Friday’s final round.

As a team, the Matadors followed up an opening-round 312 on Wednesday with a 7-over 295 on Thursday to move into a first-place tie with Fresno State at 31-over 607. The Bulldogs finished round two at 9-over 297.

Tanoue had five birdies and nine pars in the second round to break a first-round tie with Fresno State’s Vunnisa Vu. Tanoue heads into the final round with a three-shot lead over Fresno State’s Amelia Garibaldi.

CSUN’s Gracie Piar moved into the individual top five after carding a 1-over 73 on Thursday. Piar had a team-high five birdies in round two to move into a tie for fourth place at 6-over 150.

Kim Turgut moved up six spots into a tie for 13th at 12-over 156 after posting a 3-over 75 in round two. Turgut had two birdies and 11 pars on Thursday.
Ariya Soldwisch made it four Matadors in the top 20 after carding a 4-over 76 in round two. Soldwisch had four birdies in round two to move into a tie for 20th at 14-over 158.
Sophie Cook rounded out the CSUN scoring, carding a second round 10-over 82 to sit in a tie for 48th at 25-over 169.
