  1. The slot is a neutral position in the downswing from which you can accelerate without creating clubface control problems through impact.

    From here, speed becomes easier and the clubface does not need to rotate aggressively.
    Everything feels more stable, more neutral, and more repeatable.

    The opposite of the slot happens when the club gets too far behind the body or too far in front of the hands.
    In the slot, the club falls right between those extremes.

    A simple drill you can do at home
    Make a full backswing.
    Let the arms drop before you rotate the upper body.
    The lower body can start moving forward while the chest stays closed.

    Let the arms fall toward your trail pocket.
    This is how you begin to learn the slot.
