They aren’t competitive as proven by brooks performance this past weekend
Edit: wow the LIV glazing is crazy in this sub. Bookmark this comment when brooks wins zero tourneys this year

Decently big news. Can drop the exhibition label.

a bit reductive but isn’t this just a reaction to them actually pivoting to 72 holes which was something they highlighted before when they declined to award points?

What is the number that LIV has to expand to so they get out of small field events category? Is it 70 players, 100 players?

A closed league getting points is ridiculous. Plain and simple. Even with the 72 hole format.

Small Field Tournament. That’s LIV in a nutshell.

About time. It was a joke that they didn’t get any points at all prior to this. Say what you want about the makeup of the league. It’s professional golf.
The OWGR didn’t accurately reflect the current skill of the golfer. I’m not saying it will now, but it will be a lot closer to the truth than it was.

winner gets OWGR points equivalent to winner at an alt-field PGAT event which seems….idk, probably ok, at first glance
It’s not gonna stop scrubby LIV players from whining but at least it’ll keep Rahm and Bryson and Hatton in the top 50 OWGR for a little while

context is important here. the amount of points will be pretty much insignficant.

It’s a joke. But at least this will hopefully shut them up about the real player’s standing on the OWGR.

Was always going to happen when they expanded to 72 holes. The closed field will still be a problem though. You’re going to have 2 or 3 guys who make nearly every top ten just because of the lack of quality further down their talent pool. I can’t see why this should get more points than the DP World tour with that imbalance in mind.
Anyone got any idea what the virtual cut mentioned is? Is it a cut to the points based on field size or is it a virtual 36 hole cut? If it’s the latter does that mean someone who misses the virtual cut then finishes top ten can get no points?

The more of this stuff that comes out the more I feel like LIV is becoming a full time alternate event set up for the PGA
