I enjoy being outdoors, so you can imagine how it feels to look out the window and still see nothing but a blanket of snow on the ground. We’re nine days into this mess, and I realize we went above freezing today and will do so again tomorrow. I’ve seen the outlook, and I know we’ll be way above by next week.

It will still be winter, however, and that means I will continue to seek out indoor activities. In that regard, I believe I have found something to add to the list. It’s a beach vibe with mini-golf (which I always enjoy), but it’s in the warm confines of a Louisville bar.

South Seas Tiki and Golf Lounge

On road trips, and usually in warm weather, I will scope out putt-putt courses. I’ve never planned a vacation around them, but they always make for nice compliments to those vacations.

However, South Seas Tiki and Golf Lounge alleviates all weather concerns. Head to 1301 Story Avenue in Louisville and settle in for a day or night of fun.

The menu offers multiple brunch, lunch, and dinner options. In fact, the South Seas menu is much bigger than I thought it would be. It’s quite impressive and features something called Volcano Tots, which sounds other-worldly. I wouldn’t turn down Maui Cauliflower Nugs either. And they have fried plantains, which are absolutely sensational. No, I don’t know about theirs, yet, but I’ve had them, and they make my taste buds extraordinarily happy. Incidentally, that menu has always been a hit. The mini-golf is a relatively recent addition.

I take it back. Maybe building a weekend getaway around this joint does sound like a good idea. Get a room near Louisville’s Butchertown, and then enjoy a visit to the “South Seas.” Winter doesn’t look that bad through a hotel window.
