There’s a variety in length in two of the par 3s, ranging from 163 yards to 215 yards. The par 5s can be eagle opportunities for any player in the field, but getting off the tee is crucial to set up those opportunities. The second shots are no bargain.

The par 4s, though, are generally longer than 400 yards, though the 17th hole is a great penultimate hole to entice players.

TPC Scottsdale course breakdown

Now that we know the layout of the golf course, what else makes TPC Scottsdale a challenge?

Desert golf places a bigger emphasis on driving, and that seems somewhat obvious given desert and desert plantlife isn’t particularly great for golf.

The par 3s are especially challening here, including the 16th hole because of the atmsophere and a relatively small target.

The par 5s often entice players into making bad decisions, and if the wind picks up, it can be problematic.
