Phil Mickelson OUT of LIV Golf Season Openers Due to Family Health Matter
π¨ Phil Mickelson has confirmed he will miss the opening two events of the LIV Golf season β and the reason puts golf into perspective.
The six-time major champion and HyFlyers GC captain announced that he will not compete in LIV Golfβs season opener at Riyadh Golf Club, nor the second event in Adelaide, Australia, as he and his wife Amy attend to a family health matter.
π£ Mickelson shared the update on social media, writing:
βAmy and I need to be present for a family health matter. I canβt wait to compete again and look forward to rejoining my teammates as soon as possible.β
β³οΈ In his absence, HyFlyers GC will bring in Ollie Schniederjans as a substitute for the opening event, with his status for Adelaide still to be determined.
π The timing is notable, as HyFlyers GC enters 2026 with a refreshed roster:
β’ Andy Ogletree departed after relegation last season
β’ 2025 NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso was just signed
β’ La Sasso turned pro after being personally recruited by Mickelson
π¬ Mickelson praised the young star, calling him βone of the most exciting young players in the game today,β highlighting his power, feel, work ethic, and team-first mentality.
π While Philβs return date remains uncertain, the focus for now is family β a reminder that even in professional golf, some things matter more than tee times and scorecards.
