I have designed and built the framework for my simulator. Everything seems to be coming together but really struggling to choose a projector. From what iv read the projector should sit above the ball. Which in my case is going to be roughly 3.5m back from the screen. I’m trying to fill a 3.2m screen width. It seems like there is only a couple of projectors that have that perfect throw ratio. are there any other solutions that I’m not thinking of or work arounds. I would prefer it not sit on the floor with a ramp over it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Ah it will be well worth it in the end, what size screen are you going to install and how are you going to tie it to the frame?

I was planning on getting the sim space 0 enclosure but having seen yours I might change my plan.

I’m going to build a 3.2m by 2.2m simple wood frame, 4 pieces of wood. Wrap the impact screen around it and staple gun to the back of the wood to keep it nice and tight. I have sound proof acoustic foam coming from Amazon which I’m going to line the ply wood with. Then I’ll just slot the screen over the top. Then netting down the side and should be good to go.

  3. Very nice make sure to post a picture of the finished product.

A decent short throw projector will do the job. Benq 671ST or similar will work for 1080. In run mine at 1600×1200. It also has a range of zoom with helps to fit the screen side to your screen. Assuming other manufacturers will have similar offerings. You’ll also have to consider budget as there are bargain units to laser 4k with very different price points
