  1. Timely and helpful. Just mounted Jumbo Max Utralite XS on driver and 7 wood. The rest of my clubs use standard grips. At the shop, the Jumbos seemed tolerable and that they would help me reduce my tendency for early release. Mounted they're not so comfortable and though they should be making the clubs' swing weights feel a bit lighter, I now find I can't feel the head at all and the club actually feels heavier overall. As a senior with a slow swing speed, performance seems to be going in a direction opposite to what I hoped for. I have one club that came with a midsize grip (Golf Pride MCC 4 max align) which seems significantly more comfortable and leaves me with a bit of feel as to where the club head is during a swing. Too early to tell if it is the direction I should go, but it certainly seems a good candidate and, at minimum, it further confirms that the Jumbos are not. Thanks for the vid!

  2. I use xl glove, ive put jumbo max grips on all my woods and my slice has gone. I have also put 10-15 yds extra on my diver (carry)

  3. So I am a right handed golfer, and when I was young I damaged my left hand badly so now my grip strength is weaker than my right hand. I struggled to keep a firm enough grip on the club using regular sized grips. For the past 20 plus years I use a jumbo sized grip (not Jumbo Max) with an extra layer of tape under the left hand. This allows me to maintain proper grip pressure throughout my golf swing. Plus I use an oversized non taper grip on wedges so no matter where I'm gripping the club (choking up) the feel is the same. So yes proper grip fitting can make the game easier. Cheers

  4. Everyone has different hands, thus different grips. Whether it be the size or textures find what you like. Just because you dont like it, doesn't mean its garbage. Arthritic condition will change you golf grip preferences, especially if you play quite often.

  5. Our club shop has just started to display/offer a range of golf pride putter grips which have various tapers / thickness will certainly be trying one out

  6. As an older (59) golfer who broke fingers when younger playing cricket and football ,i now cant make a fist so even though I have smaller hands i prefer a midsize grip.

  7. Was tinkering with grips last winter, decided to go with plus 4's on everything, same midsize as I always use. They were lovely on the wedges and shorter irons but caused my longer clubs to start right and go right. Driver was awful. Changed back to tapered midsize with 2 wraps and everything is straight again.
My experience says if your fighting a hook go larger, fighting a slice go smaller.

  8. Should all grips be the same size to promote consitent feel or if you use a larger grip should you possibly look into a smaller size for wedges and shorter irons because those are more feel based clubs?

  9. I got rid of my standard size grips they felt to small in my hands and my fingers were rubbing against my palm when gripping the golf club . so I went to midsize grips and they feel better. My fingers slightly now touch my palm when gripping the club instead of rubbing my palm when gripping the club. It’s gonna be a good year.

  10. I’ve got small hands & I use JumboMax XS. Love them, they’ve definitely straightened up my shots. I played cricket for years before ever taking up golf and the jumbo grips just feel so much more familiar & comfortable.

  11. I’ve had extra tape (20 wraps) on my wedges and 8 iron, for over 10’years, for softer hands around the greens.
6 years ago I put it through my bag and I couldn’t recommend it higher!

Obviously if you have doll hands then it’s probably not for you.

  12. I've just put on a jumbo grip and the initial reaction is, it feels much better.
I've always had 2 – 3 grips on my cricket bat as it made my grip lighter and more relaxed.
That seems to be the case also with the jumbo.
Looking forward to hitting the range.

  13. I put golf pride cpx on my clubs because of old hands hope they work . I like the feel and are easier to grip it seems hope they work for this old man.

  14. My glove size is medium to large and I have played around with the jumbomax grips, and I finally settled into extra small. With a Jumbo Max, I tried a few different sizes, but extra small was the one that fit for me. My miss was left and after switching to these grips, I don’t think I’ve ever hit my driver as straight and pure. If you’re able to blow your grips on and off, it is so worth trying. They will feel different in your hand, but once you get used to them, you’ll love them and for me anyways, I didn’t lose any distance at all. In fact because I hit it more centre on the face in a lot of cases I gained distance.

  15. Awesome vid and would be perfect if all brands and sizes were represented. Now the brands vision is guiding the bandwidth.

Check other sports where forces are swinging a racket or bat like object.

  16. I cannot understand how you film, edit & publish this video and choose to never display the respective dispersion map(s). Fascinating choice.

  17. One of the things I’ve never seen covered when grips are looked at is special grips for those who may have arthritic hands or issues with strength of grip. One of my playing partners is 83 and his grips have small spikes in them almost like bristles. These are about the diameter of a pencil. One of the advantages he says is that they seem to be easier in wet or damp conditions.
The loss of grip in the wet is one of the main issues I have and makes playing in the rain even more of a pain than it is

  18. Great little deep dive Matt. Just learning about all this a couple years ago I tried mid size and really enjoyed the feeling they had in the hand. Kept most of my wedges at standard for feel
Any chance some more info on grip style, materials etc?

  19. I have hands on the larger side and since changing to midsize my game has improved (especially with the driver). Before my fingers just felt all bunched up like noodles on the grip. Great video matt

  20. golf pride MCC mid. Slows my club face slightly so I don't hook the ball off the planet and the half cord allows me to grip the club lightly with my left hand without fear of flinging my club down the fairway.

  21. Large hands at 6'6" tall, I use Golf Pride midsize grips. Brings back memories of playing HS baseball with wooden bats. I loved the extremely large handle wooden bat I used. I couldn't be jammed with that bat.

  22. If you told me I could have a nice consistent fade, with a tight dispersion, and all I had to do was aim up the left hand side of a fairway – sign me up. I don't even care that I'll be losing 10 to 15 yd per club.
