The Grounds | Hallowed Grounds: The Story of Augusta National

“It seemed that this land had been lying here for years, just waiting for someone to lay a golf course upon it.” Those were the first thoughts of Augusta National and Masters Tournament co-Founder Bobby Jones upon seeing the property that would become Augusta National. From its incredible elevation changes to its distinct and wide-ranging set of flora, there is no place in golf where beauty inspires the same level of awe.

Since 1934, the Masters Tournament has been home to some of golf’s greatest moments. Amidst blooming azaleas, towering pines and flowering dogwoods, the first full week of April ushers in a stage unique to golf and to sport. Over four days and 72 holes, the smallest field in major championship golf competes for a chance to capture the Green Jacket and a place in Masters history.

  1. One day before I move on, I would love to have the honor to visit this magnificent place! But thank you masters for putting out these videos, the history is so fascinating to me!!!

  2. I was surprised at the disparity of the city of Augusta – between the area immediately surrounding the golf course and just outside of that. From rich to poor, with little in-between. They never show this on TV. Look for yourself on Google Earth.

  3. I would like to be a volunteer at Agusta. I love my time volunteering at Valspar in March. Agusta is closer drive. Please let me know if they need volunteers. Tks⛳️

  4. “Better than you imagined” is spot on. I have been fortunate to attend the Masters three times, and on each return something caught my eye and made me literally do a double take.

  5. I went in 2019 and seeing the course in person is no comparison to watching on tv. When you get there it's hills, hills, and more hills. It's like a beautiful workout

  6. Please show all the holes on your website. I rather support Augusta National than these dying propaganda networks who make me pay to watch ads every 3 minutes. Apologize for my rant, carry on.

  7. I remember my dad told me back in the early 90s he went to a practice round for the masters with some buddies of his, and he told me son TV don’t do it justice. It’s next level when you can actually come here. He passed away in 2024 and I never was into golf until he died and now that I’ve picked up the game I would love to attend

  8. I was able to go a few times when the practice rounds were open. We used to park where the practice area is now. Think the course has been remodeled a couple of times since then. l have been trying to hit that ticket lottery for a long time. Getting older and will give up in another year or two. If you get a chance to go, go.

  9. Like I needed another reason to get excited! Most beautiful place in the world during Spring

  10. Certainly on my bucket list, might have to do the mental 10k holiday with a ticket included deal…..end up in divorce 😂 but i might be worth it

  11. There are places in the world that can’t be truly appreciated until you see it in person. Augusta National is one of those places. When you walk out past the clubhouse and see the first fairway it hits you like standing on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Blessed to have attended many times to see the grounds evolve each spring.
