In this video, I tested every major Zero Torque putter and new Putter at the 2026 PGA Show and learned something most golfers misunderstand. It’s really all about a square putter face. And when it comes to Zero Torque Putters, There are really only two types:
• Truly Zero Torque
• Dynamic Zero Torque
And here’s the truth:
The brand matters far less than your ability to control the face, start line, and speed.
Zero torque putters can help, but they won’t save you if your putting fundamentals aren’t solid.
And neither will a variable torque putter which I also tested at the PGA show
That’s why the drills I teach focus on what actually lowers scores:
• square face at impact
• reliable start line
• consistent distance control

I tested nearly every new putter at the 2026 PGA Show — and what I discovered changed how I look at putting technology.
From zero torque putters to adjustable and fitted designs, every invention was trying to solve the same issue: keeping the putter face square at impact.
In this video, I break down the three different design philosophies I saw — and what actually matters for better putting.

  1. After testing all these putters at the PGA Show, it became clear they were all trying to solve the same thing — face angle at impact.

Do you think golfers should learn better face control, or rely on putter technology to correct misses?

  2. Very true John, now take a golfer who has taken your putting course and your green reading course , hand them a zero torque putter and you have a golfer who can just flat out putt, a deadly putting machine. 😁

  3. LOL, you cant assess lie angle balance or ZT when you "try" to balance the putter on your soft finger index finger!! Are you so new to the golf industry?… this is your measuring stick going forward? I can manipulate the most toe hang putter ever on the end of my finger to replicate perfect balance based on your logic in this video. LOL. unsubcribed. Do better. Get some real tools or devices.

  4. The obvious answer is to learn how to make a good stroke. My work with Pelz would seem to indicate that that’s not easy!

  5. What kind of grip did you have again, and how is it installed, I remember trying it when we played at Pauite.. Great Video!

  6. I was amazed at my recent putter fitting that found if I had an alignment line on my putter I aimed about 1.7 to 2.2 degrees right. Take away the line and I squared the face up to my intended line. Probably why I kept going back to my 1976 Bulls Eye so often but with the Bulls Eye long putts came up short. I found a new one that works great and 3 putts are not a major problem for me now. Finally.

  7. John! I converted my Honu putter to face-on putting! I think the twisting or rotation of your putter would be minimal! Am I wrong?

  8. Ordered a void putter 2 weeks ago and the putter face material i like the concept with using odyssey AI1 putters but the putters i have are not face balanced but do have mezz.1, link 1, OZ 1 and always putt better with the link 1 fits my putting. Also have scotty cameron models several models but do not like double bend and plumbers neck but out of the 2 the double bend is better. I am hoping the center fire void is best of all worlds of putting. I am not bad but trying to get into the 70"s for 54 holes of putt putt is where I am aiming. I can't get to 81 but would like 5 better putts out of 3 18 rounds that I know I can get into the 70's

  9. I have tried just about every style recently, but to my surprise, the best feeling and results came from my 35 +years old forged blade. It was even more effective than my Edel putter for which I was fitted!.Stressdr…there's something for everyone!
