You’ve probably heard “drop your hands into your pocket”, but if you’re not doing it right, it can hurt your swing. Here’s what Bryson actually means:

✅ At the top of your backswing, rotate back✅ Drop your hands toward your front pocket, not the back✅ Keep your elbow connected to your ribcage, not stuck behind you

Drill it in the mirror or on the range to keep your swing clean and connected ⛳️

  1. Brysons point is essentially the same point J Rose makes with his pre shot move. Definitely think u can drop it down like he says in the video. Bodies rotation will bring it back to the ball.

  2. Great explanation! More experienced players may be able to follow Bryson's guidance easily but mid-high handicaps absolutely need it broken down the way you explained it

  3. If you look at his demo (Bryson) you’ll see he does exactly what you say not to. I think he is suggesting you drop it into your pocket (as a FEEL) to get the club more shallow. It’s for people that rip open and get the club way on the outside as a result, meaning they have to steepen it as a correction

  4. Love this! You completely agree with Bryson and explain in full detail how to achieve the move he makes. Thank you for the clarity!

  5. He literally says as a feel, to drop it into the right side pocket, not out in front 😅
I think alot of people struggle with rotating with their shoulders first and therefore the feel of dropping their hands into their right pockets before rotating, helps them stay more closed as they normally open up way too quick and slice it ….

  6. Ah, I see why you’re confused. Getting stuck happens when the trail arm stays bent in the downswing. If you drop to your right pocket without extending the arm, you trap the club behind you. But thrusting your hands toward the ball, as you suggest, destroys the swing completely. That’s why Bryson is right…and you’re not.

Another cue in transition you should advocate is to push your right hand away from the target, not toward the ball. The hand-toward-ball move is one of the most common and destructive faults among amateurs.

  7. This is so dumb. Bryson is saying the right hand pocket — exactly the place you showed as being incorrect. Bryson is demonstrating a feel where the arms shallow BUT the pivot at full speed throws them out and makes sure that they don’t get too far behind. For those of us who come OTT it’s a worthy exaggeration feel.

  8. It is his right pocket. Justin rose speaks about the same thing. The feeling of going to your right pocket. Vs the real of getting it into the position you are speaking of

  9. The best lesson on this I ever got was to think about pulling the butt end of the club towards the ball!

  10. I think I'll listen to Bryson and Justin Rose. Plus you're from California the most f***ed up state in the country

  11. Don’t listen to this guy he’s an idiot exactly putting the club to your pocket making it feel behind you is what you want to do if you come down to steep it will come from inside out path once you rotate that drill saved me since I had a problem coming over the top

  12. This concept is what fixed my drive as well. The mental note I make that’s helped me is to limit your arms’ ability to move anywhere else but up and down and let your rotation be the thing that swings you

  13. I personally took brysons advice and it helped to a certain degree. It’s more feel than real though.

I appreciate you taking time to further explain this concept for new golfers myself included.

It was night and day when I started moving my trail shoulder to my front left pocket.

Cheers friend and good luck on the course! 🎉

  14. Its not that people misunderstand everybody has different brain and feel is not real. Everyone react differently too same swing through, trigger or drill. Everybody should be looking for their own drill, swing thought and trigger.
