Blades Brown previews Korn Ferry Tour event in Franklin

Pro golfer Blades Brown from Nashville speaks at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin prior to the course’s 2025 Korn Ferry Tour event.

Blades Brown started the last round of The American Express PGA Tour tournament within striking distance of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim in the final grouping.

He didn’t finish that way after an up-and-down round, but Brown, playing on a sponsor’s exemption, still finished a career-best T-18 on Jan. 25 at La Quinta Country Club in California.

Brown shot a 2-over 74 in the final round to finish at 19-under overall for the week. The 18-year-old from Nashville was 1-under for the round through four holes before a double-bogey on the par-5 No. 5 hole set him back on a course conducive to low scores.

A couple of bogeys down the stretch, including on No. 18, meant Brown finished out of the top 10 and missed out on a spot in the Jan. 29-Feb. 1 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

Scheffler coasted to a four-shot victory at 27-under over Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty and Andrew Putnam.

In a week filled with highlights, Brown’s second-round, course-record 60 was the lowest round by an 18-year-old on the PGA Tour in 43 years.

Brown’s top-20 finish completed a stretch of eight straight days of competitive golf, including a T-17 finish in the Korn Ferry Tour event in the Bahamas that finished Jan. 21.
