In this video, we fit Ex-LET Tour Player and LIV Golf Presenter Rachel Drummond into a brand-new set of custom-fitted irons here at EP Golf Studios! 🏌️‍♀️

We put Rachel through a full iron fitting session, testing a range of iron heads, shaft weights, and flexes to find the perfect combination for distance, control, and peak performance.

Testing a whole range of shafts from regular to stiff and weights ranging from 80g all the way up to 120g. With a surprising end result!

Heads Tested:

– Ping i240
– Titleist T250
– Taylormade P790
– Mizuno Pro 245

So settle in and enjoy while we take Rachel through the process of dialling in:

– Head profile and loft to create optimal launch, spin, and distance.
– Shaft weight and flex to create optimal timing for strike and direction.
– Lie angle to create optimal start direction.
– Length and Swingweight to create optimal feel and contol.

  1. This is the mark of a really good fitter. Ross knows the very technical side of the changes he is making then takes the time to listen to the player and ask the right questions. How the player perceives the club is just as important as getting the technical side right. Well Done Ross great fitting.

  2. Incredible speed and loading for a lady to play KBS $ Taper 120. Could have had her tried putting the ball a tad more Right for a steeper AoA and more shaft lean, which could have given more spin and compression.

  3. This is why getting fit by a very good fitter is best for your swing. Even a very good player’s swing changes after a few years of not playing competitively. Listening to the player is paramount over the stats. Excellent job Rachel and Ross. Cheers.

  4. I bought the 245s earlier this year. Really nice clubs. Even got a hole in one on my first round with them, which is always nice.

  5. Really cool to see someone who actually swings my speed. 81-82 with a 7 iron and she also is struggling with dynamic loft. Low point and strike are miles better but seeing numbers I recognize is neat. Not surprised you put her in a head with a significantly lower VCOG. The 245s look to share a few metrics with my 2022 Stealth set, albeit less MOI and shorter blade.

  6. This is gold…what an educational bit. I mean the girl knows what she likes, she had no time for lite shafts, or TM heads. For all the times you have commented on shafts not having big impact, clearly this tells us it can for better players, because of feel and confidence. How long was this session Ross? Well done mate. Bring her back for woods fitting!

  7. Surprised she didn’t go with KBS tour light reg. Seemed to have best results. But she went with feel.

  8. Could it have been that Rachel liked the D3 swingweight more than anything else.
Rachel's main complaint was that she couldn't feel the head in her Ping clubs, but as soon as you increased the swingweight to D3 in 2 different shafts, she liked them.
Whenever you put a lighter shaft in the Mizuno head you made the swingweight lighter which she didn't like.
I would have liked to have seen a lighter shaft tested but at the D3 swingweight.

  9. The shorter player will tend more to stiffer flex as they need to whip the club to generate speed. The taller player will have a more smoother swing and should only have a stiff or less flex unless you're a long drive champ.

  10. I went from KBS 95 regular to Modus 120 stiff and I can feel the difference with much more stability. These will be my first set of fitted irons and I will not get another club off the rack.

  11. Seems like DG 105 stiff shaft would’ve helped bring the flight down. Fittings are tough because I got fitted for a 120g shaft, but played a round and found it too heavy after playing 18 holes. Hit it well in fitting though. It would seem alternating between a 100-105 g shaft and 120 would throw your timing off. In your mind, 100-110 would’ve been ideal? Fun watch 👍🏻

  12. Just out of interest any reason you wouldn’t have tried the modus 120 or the DG mid range? Great video and shows the importance of trying as feel and real is different.

  13. wasn't until I got to 14hc that I thought about where I liked the weight in the head or the shaft, got fitted and I'm heading south, 8-9hc so far.

  14. Great content and highlighted Ross’s experience, expertise and his personable approach ⛳️🏌🏻

  15. Great content as always. Have really been considering to cross the Channel and come see you guys for a full bag fitting. Might do so in the near future.

  16. Great content Ross, really enjoyed this.. looked like you both had a good fun with the fitting too..

  17. Maybe it was tried off camera, but I would think she would be a perfect candidate for the Project X LZ 6,0 120S. She seemed to like the 120 and the LZ plays about a half a flex softer. But, my second choice would have been the Modus 120S. Surprised she didn’t like that. This was a great fitting to watch. Really well done. First class guy and a lovely lady. I don’t know how he kept it in during some of those questions about shaft and head…😂

  18. Great content Ross. Love your videos and Rachel is a fantastic personality. Can I ask why the Srixon ZXi's weren't an option?

  19. Ross, you should track the placement of the feet and the ball at strike. You'll be amazed how this will impact the golfers consistency or inconsistency. By "track" I mean actually map visually where the feet are vs the ball over time.

  20. The comment regarding loving golf even more as you age (69 here) is extremely true. I am there right now. I appreciate every time I get to play.

  21. Would anyone else like to know why a modus seems to work so well in a Ping head?! is it because the ping head are generally heavier?

  22. @epgolfstudios how do you check if i need to change the upright degrees from 1 to 2 on the longer irons?

  23. This was very interesting to watch and what you also say about taking the PW back to STANDARD LIE and not either 1 or 2 degrees UPRIGHT

  24. what weight was the shaft that she went with? i am hitting ping G30 . 66 grams. senior flex. my 7 iron is 130 yards. 5500 spin rate

  25. A stiff flex shaft for an 80 mph swing speed doesn’t seem right. Why not regular flex with her preferred shaft?

  26. It's a miracle she ended up with a hundred and twenty gram shaft, given how hard the fitter was pushing the light shafts.
It was clear the heavier shafts provided better feel and better dispersion.

  27. Cool that you had Rachel try the exact spec I have on my T250s. 2 degrees upright, std loft, AMT Black. Even have the same swing speed with my 7 iron. Makes me feel good as she is a former tour player… 😉

  28. Really interesting Ross especially about different degrees of upright through the cubs. Great video thank you~ PS Rachael quality 👏🏼👏🏼

  29. I like what you said at the end about the lie angle on the 9/PW clubs. I'm a high handicap player (new), but hit my 9, PW, AW and 56 dead straight almost everytime but my 5-8 go slightly right. I was going to order clubs with a 1 degree flatter lie, but I think you're right in leaving the higher lofted clubs alone.
