I got an on-course lesson from former World #1 golfer Jon Rahm… and he didn’t just give “generic tips” — he broke down how pros think, choose targets, and manage misses in real time.

We start with something most golfers ignore: bag + club prep. Jon is obsessive (in the best way) about keeping grooves clean, keeping the bag organized, and treating your equipment like part of your scoring. Then we get into the real lesson — driver strategy + shot shaping, including how to pick a target for a fade and why Jon focuses more on the end point than the start line.

From there, Jon helps me with distance + speed (without turning it into a technical rabbit hole): how to swing faster using a “whip” feel, relax the hands, and stop wasting energy on the takeaway.

Then the video turns into a masterclass in course management — dialing the correct number, picking a club based on conditions, and aiming to maximize your miss. You’ll also hear a really cool mindset tip on stepping off putts for confidence, plus Jon’s approach to reading greens (entry point / tracing the break backward) and why a consistent routine matters most under pressure.

We finish with my biggest weakness: this rough. Jon shows the highest-percentage choice (bump-and-run vs flop), then gives an insanely practical breakdown on how to hit a higher shot properly — open the face first, then re-grip, widen the stance for stability, and keep the face open while swinging with speed (no decel).

If you want real Tour-level advice that actually helps your game — driver, approach strategy, putting, and short game — this one is packed.

  1. Glad to see you are open to some new coaching. Some things are visible in your videos. Thanks for something to enjoy as bad weather comes in. Jon Rahm is so cool, and he knows how to teach.

  2. Just a quick video tip = as John is describing your landing zone on the green, roll your B camera video footage of the green itself as he is describing the landing zone. And obviously Tracers would help us visualize your actual shots. 💯🇺🇲⛳️🏆
Great video, and Rahmbo is the 🐐.

  3. 2 questions Gabby. Is your aim to be a pro? And you might have said, but have you chosen a college yet, with golf at the forefront? Good luck whatever decided

  4. Wish you understand that l player liv and PGA fans are on opposite sides. As a PGA fan….hell with liv players. If you really knew golf, then you would understand why they are sellouts and bad people.

  5. I'm the same way I have to keep my clubs in order. My dad's bag drives me crazy. He has multiple clubs in one spot in a 14 slot bag and not in order at all. I try to organize it all the time but he never keeps it that way

  6. Quality video…great advice from Rahm…good to see you listening intently…you’re obviously dry talented but always room for growth…remain open and you’ll go far

  7. I love how Mr. Rahm points out that golf is a game of mistakes. 👍. Some mornings the mistake was getting up to play.,🤪. Remember a bad day of golf is better than a best day at work.
For the general public, go out have fun and keep up with the group in front of you. Plus, repair any damage you do.
