This is my favorite course for several reasons. Obviously the History, the beautiful location and the course condition is superb.

I’m Steve Pope, a proud Firefighter with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department, where I’ve served for the past 28 years. I’m also an avid golfer with a passion for using the game as a tool for mental health and healing.

Through my journey, I’ve discovered how golf helps me decompress, recalibrate, and manage the unique stresses that come with being a first responder. What started as a personal outlet has grown into something bigger — Firefighter Golf, and now, the First Responder Golf Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Mission
To bring awareness to mental health challenges faced by firefighters and all first responders — and to show how golf can be a powerful tool for wellness, connection, and recovery.

Whether you’re a firefighter, police officer, EMT, paramedic, or any kind of first responder — this space is for you. Our community is built on shared experience, support, and the love of the game.
