Tiger Woods might be returning to the spotlight sooner than fans think.
Woods, 50, hasn’t competed in a major tournament since Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in 2024. He’s currently ranked 2663rd in the Official World Golf Ranking because he hasn’t played in so long. There’s a good chance he’ll be unranked by Week 29 of the 2026 season.

During an appearance on Sirius XM PGA Tour radio this week, Tommy Gainey shared some pretty interesting information about Woods. The 15-time major champion has apparently signed a deal with Insperity, a professional employer organization that’s headquartered in Texas.
“I do think he’s going to play out here,” Gainey said, via OutKick. “He signed a deal with Insperity. You could see it on his sleeve, so that’s good news. I will let people think maybe what they want to think on that, but that tells me that if he’s able to play, he’s going to play in that one.”
Why is this interesting information? Well, the Insperity Invitational will take place this May. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll see Woods compete on the PGA Tour Champions.

Woods’ former Stanford teammate, Notah Begay III, discussed the possibility of him taking his talents to the senior circuit back in November.
“You can only sit in your house and think about golf and hit balls at the range for so long,” Begay said. “You want to go out and see if you can beat somebody. I do think he will try it and I hope he likes it. The world of golf with Tiger is just so much better and so much more fun even if we see glimpses from time to time.”

Golf fans just want to see Woods competing against the best in the world. If he chooses PGA Tour Champions over the PGA Tour, he’ll still have plenty of people in his corner cheering him on.
